Hello world! – Welcome to Project Keystone – Nov 2024

My name is Audrey Yarmowich and I am starting this project with the goal of building a platform from which to explore the interconnectedness of our incredible planet. Every weed, bug, every drop of water work together in an undirected symphony of life. For millions of years every organism on the planet, through the fulfillment of its own self interest in survival and reproduction, has created the most complicated system we know of in the galaxy. This planet has been transformed from a barren watery rocky world to the beautiful green paradise that sustains us all.

And yet a small subset of humanity has designed the systems we all live under to a path of constant growth at all costs. Project Keystone hopes to provide a visual and interactive simulation to simulate a wide variety of the downstream effects of ecological interventions. This platform seeks to both demonstrate the harms pollution and unrestrained human encroachment has, but also show the effects that intentional and harmonious interventions can have.

Project Keystone will take a simulation based approach. Focusing on every organisms individual intentions and desire for personal survival. The complexity of systems will come about dynamically as a result of the interaction of the millions of simulated organisms driving to perpetuate themselves individually. This project seeks to explore the nature of intelligence, the development of symbiotic, parasitic, and mutalistic relationships. And this project seeks to explore the connection between other natural processes like the water cycle, weather patterns, geography, and geology have on the ecology of an ecosystem.

This project will be a lot of work, and will require a lot of help. The project will be as complex as the team wants it to be.
